Significant bush/scrub fires 2008/2009

Post by WPXZBP »

Here's the new sticky.

Edit - 27/12/2008

This thread is predominantly for third alarm and above bush fires however if it is a significant fire (ie threatening homes and businesses) that is at least second alarm then it will be acceptable. If it's not one of those things then post it in one of the other, more appropriate threads.

Please keep the posts to factual information - not rumour, hearsay, possibilities, theories etc. Also keep the information brief and to the point.

Thankyou for your cooperation.

DEC says there's a "Biodiversity Management burn 5km SE of Byford" today. That might be it.

Fire in Mt Helena, Sexton x Riley, Under control and being mopped up, Mt Helena 3.4 and LT, Stoneville LT and Sawyers Valley LT. And there was a fire in Morangup, but I think that is under control.
And taken from the fesa site:
Hamilton Hill Bushfire
Effective 15 Oct 2008 12:33

A bush fire is burning in Hamilton Hill on either side of Stock Road between Forrest and Phoenix Roads.

Strong winds are pushing the fire in a south south-east direction.
There are 35 Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters from 12 stations on the scene.
