Was that the controlled burn that Baldivis was conducting earlier in the day?[/quote]

Baldivis wasnt conducting a burn that day. they had a call to put out flare ups from a burn the night before. But the fire the 4.4 and lt1 was released for was a different one altogether

This is the last weekend for burning in the Shire of Mundaring. Darlington was doing a couple of burns today and I believe at least 1 tomorrow.

I saw a big cloud of smoke to the north eastern end of the airport today, when i looked over to the fire station there were no trucks in side the under cover area, i thought they might have been doing some training, the cloud of smoke didn't last long, and was a deep black colour, something that would suggest Flammable Liquids were involved, namely Aviation JA-1 which is Kerosene

I'm pretty sure I heard Kalamunda doing a controlled burn earlier - that might have been the Kalamunda one you saw.

Different shires have different restricted/burning periods, but checking the Kalamunda Shire website, they went into prohibited on 1st!

That black smoke (I to saw from the QF terminal) was the fire fighters doing some training.

It's largely up to the local CBFCO. In a lot of LGAs, the public burning period ceases, but the Fire Brigades are allowed some extension, based on conditions/approval by the CBFCO. This happens most years in Kalamunda. The other fun thing is there are some residents (some repeat offenders) who don't know/don't care/ignore the restricted burning period, and cause the Fire Brigades and Rangers no end of hassle.
