What's on fire?

This morning in Innaloo I could smell smoke, and now in the office out work it looks smokey outside?
What's burning?

From my collegues here at work - at a very well known Mining company - they say its a CALM controlled burn - Collie...

As per the radio this morn, it was a combo of fog and the smoke.

94.5 said two parties burning off. CALM doing something and farmers burning off old crop (I think). I guess the weather didn't go to plan because it was supposed to blow away by 9am. It was still along the coast at 4pm. I could barely see Observation City from 1km south, this arvo. I pity the hay fever and asthma sufferers.

A temperature inversion and a lack of breeze kept the smoke in. The temp inversions occur when warm air traps the air below it and is one of the factors responsible for smog that you see in L.A. on occasion.
