Yep - I can confirm what Gavin has said. It's been a long & pricey job just rolling out what they have so far. A step into digital is, as far as I can see, not going to happen until the next decade at the earliest.

Buddah, they do a weekly check on Friday mornings. Usually lasts several minutes, as you here the same FF moving to each of the vehicles. Often quite scratchy as the vehicles are often still in the engine bay.

We don't know yet. I think the old network still has a few years left in it in the metro area :-)

It does indeed... not all of the repeaters in the metro area are installed yet.

Can someone tell me how far north the 6AR/IP network operates??

I know that there is the repeater at GinGin that I was able to recieve on the in-car scanner as far north as Regans Ford (Brand hwy, 40k's north of GinGin) but after that I could not find anything on any frequency.

Do they have alternative communications network outside of this area, or what is the go.

Probably been asked before but I could not find it lol.

Thanks

Nothing back to Comcen in Perth outside of the area, no. The furthest command repeater north would be at Lancelin. Beyond that, its down to the phone..

They should have a small repeater onboard a firetruck with a telephone interconnect for fireground comms at big fires, or a cross band repeater network with HF/VHForUHF for local ops.

you can do alomost anything with radios, its just down to your imagination.
