Beep after every over on 6AR

Post by vk6hgr »

Hi Folks.

Just now while listening to 6AR I've noticed there's a short high pitch tone after every transmission by both vehicles and 6AR.

Anyone know what this could be?

I hear it too, but I thought it might be the online stream. This is the first time I've used the new telewest stream. Are you using an actual radio or the stream?

Nah. It's definitely on-air since you hear the repeater "chunk-chunk" after each beep.

It's probably site telemetry "Help, I've lost mains power and my battery is low", but that's just an educated guess :-)

You're right, I didn't hear that at first.

Seems to have stopped now. Maybe the person who kicked the plug out of the wall has pushed it back in.

It is a radio for the stream...didn't notice the beeps on Saturday when doing patrols. Sounds like it could be something up with the repeater. Or an acknowledgement.

Nothing beepy heard here on stream - am listening now.

What was recorded certainly isn't the annoying roger-beeps that some Brigades have, but is just as annoying. Glad it's gone!

Was out on the 1.4 doing hydrants when it started... It's about 30 more times annoying on the truck, Especially with the rear radio
