On the multi-band stream, the midband Tait 2020 sounds terrible. But thanks to Cash Converters not knowing what it was, I picked up a much better, newer radio, a Tait TM8115 for all of $15 :)

I'll be swapping it in sometime in the next few days.

In "winter mode" the mid-band radio also scans channel 57 (i.e. 6AR/IP command channel) and there are occasional crashes of static from power line noise. The main stream uses a high-band channel and is mostly immune, but today it sounds awful: investigating.

Yep, seems like the radio receiver has died as it has gone very deaf. I'll try and look at it tonight to tomorrow. In the mean time, the other stream can be used to listen to the command channel.

Swapped out two radios (the spare was also faulty - argh!) And the main command 6AR/6IP stream is working well again.

The secondary Southwest Area Fire and Emergency Services stream is now in "summer" mode, which means 6AR/6IP audio is not carried on this stream any more.

Hi Gavin,
I'm hearing a lot of static on your "Perth Fire and Rescue Service - Command" Broadcastify feed this morning. Voice comms are clear above it, so perhaps squelch? Not that I want to tell you about scanners or radios ....

Just had a listen - sounds OK.

if the sound is a light crackling sound like the sound of bacon frying, then it's electrical interference, probably faulty or dirty insulators on power lines. Midband is badly affected but it can cause issues up through high band VHF as well.

Yep, that's the sound - I might need to confirm by actually going an cooking some :-)

Just that I don't recall hearing it on your feed previously.

Merry Christmas.
