Ok. It's working again.

Had to rebuild my server from scratch after a power supply died, taking out 3 out of 4 RAID disks AND the spare disk that was backing them up :(

Changes to the second DFES/SES stream:

It's now in "winter mode" - the VHF DFES radio is scanning the usual channels plus now the 6AR command channel.

The UHF SES radio has been upgraded and is now a Tait TM8100. The audio quality should be a lot better :)

Updates.

The DFES stream is now in "summer" mode - 6AR command channel is no longer included on the left hand audio track channels.

The 6AR command channel stream's radio has been replaced. A 27 year old radio after ~6 years of being on 24/7, the audio was starting to get a bit rubbish due to capacitors drying out. :-)

27 years ... they just don't build things to last any more. ;)

Thanks to a recent donation, the DFES stream how has a UHF Simoco SRM9000 radio on the left hand side audio. As it has better receive performance, as well as the 10 SES UHF repeaters, it now scans simplex channels ES A, ES B, FRS 1 and FRS 2.

Fixed a problem on the DFES stream where the stream audio would glitch every now and again.

Folks have reported that the audio on Channel 644 (Air attack, etc) has a squeal on the audio. It's not a problem here, there's something wrong with the repeater.

Edit: Iinet have lost connectivity to the US ISP that hosts the mirror servers. Will have to wait for it to come good again.

There was a bit of extra left over in the kitty so I have replaced the VHF antenna with a new one. Sounds much better :)

The UHF side of the DFES stream is getting an upgrade soon.

The project is to have two UHF radios on two different antennas and set them up so if the signal fades on one radio, the audio will switch to the second radio if it's receiving instead.

I noticed the Southwest Area feed is getting some Northam Police occasionally which is pretty sweet!

Bit sad 6AR isn't on the Southwest feed anymore, my android app won't do two channels at once. Though I understand why it isn't there for 'summer mode' :)

Yeah, it can be frustrating, but having 6AR on the southwest feed in summer is too noisy. What I do is if I want to listen to two streams at the same time I use two different apps :)

The theory though is that you listen in on the 6AR feed and then if an 'interesting' event starts, switch to the SW DFES feed for the fireground channels.

The DFES UHF (Right) channel now also has Northam (noisy) and south-east (Lima) area police from ch11.
