FESA frequency

I am new to this, can anyone recommend a good FESA channel to listen to? Especially around South Perth/Bentley area?

78.4125 which is 6ip/6ar is also a good channel due to it being the comcen and u can find almost wer any fire is in the metro area and the status eg: 8-8, 6-6, 4-4 wateva u want u can find out how biug the fire is etc

This is where my issue begins, see i recently bought a scanner over the internet - Its a Uniden 10 Channel scanner.

The unfortunate thing is it can't pick up a 4 digit frequency, for example
the one you suggested below, when i try to enter it in the scanner it only does this - - > 0 7 8 - 4 1 2

So even though i press 5 at the end, it won't instead it adds a zero on the front.

Can you possibly help me over come this issue?? I wouln't mind buying another scanner that could do this, but for the moment it will do.

Yeah, this is a common problem with old scanners. They can only tune on frequencies that are multiples of 25Khz - 78.400, 78.425, 78.450 etc.

New scanners usually don't have this limitation.

My local strongest FESA appears to be 78.050 .
While we are at it does anyone know the best freqs for the aerial bombers and spotters.
Im guessing a lot of this fireground type stuff is simplex but some strong and regularly used channel suggestions would be cool.

Best channel I've found for the water bombers is channel 50 - 77.2000

And yes, alot of the fireground chat is simplex and difficult to pick up (with my handheld scanner at any rate) - even from only a few kms away.. Dang trees!

It depends what area you're in, but the 6IP/6AR channels (which are to/from Comcen) should be readable across most of the metro area. There's a good list which inicates 6IP/6AR for different areas here;

Don't be too worried about not being able to tune precisely onto frequencies that are on the 12.5khz 'step' with a scanner that tunes in 5khz increments.

At worst, you'll be only 2.5khz 'off target' - you'll still be able to receive, for example, 78.4125 on 78.410 or 78.415.

Program in the full frequency and let the scanner 'default' to the nearest frequency (as I say, it'll be at 2.5khz away at most). You should be okay to receive.

78.325 has been good for the water bombers over the past couple of summers.

its the channel wer ther liase or owever u spell it with the ground contoller and each other
i was going to post it but since its been about 6 months couldnt remeber if it was channel 4,3 or 5 on my scanner
but in the summer its usually good
