Although it is a pretty safe bet that it was a deliberatly lit fire the FIO being there doesnt mean it is. Generally speaking the FIO will not attend deliberately lit fires if its obvious, same as fires in derelict buildings. The FIO attends to suspicious or unknown causes of fire. If it is determined as deliberate it is handed over to the police arson squad, where the FIO might liase with. For example if we go to a fire and we can see it is deliberatly lit and ask for the FIO, he more likely than not will not come but the arson squad will instead. Just a bit of info to help people understand his role

correction fio wasnt in attendence bfsa liason officer and dec ppl ther lookin for cause, i know it was delibretly lit due to them sayin to all our vehciels stay out of the area even thought we.d been through and mopped up the whole section lol

Don't know but saw it on the way home. Was it in Stratton? Looked further north than that, perhaps Swan Valley (but my geography in that area is pretty hazy).

i live 5 mins away so cant see it directly but walked to the end of the street and see this massive glow in the sky

Hamilton road closed dunno what end think near spearwood ave-apprantley it jumped hamilton rd-alot of bystanders looking around going by radio on VKI.

anyone hear anything of what looks to be a massive fire near pinjarra maybe. not to sure where exactly, but started up early friday and just got bigger and bigger.

This news story mentions the Pinjarra one (briefly) along with a few others from last night including one of the Skyworks barges catching fire

The fire in rocky is largly contained. It is in the grass verge area behind lake richmond in safety bay. There are numerous appliances there at present. In : Rockingham 1st and 2nd, Hope Valley, Kwinana, and baldivis bushies. Both helitacs are also in attendance

cheers for the updates-large police presence atm with road blocks set up around the fire i believe.

AV701 peppered sprayed some guy who disobeyed a direction not to go back to his house to collect his car and things from the property

I managed to drive the whole area before taking photos and didnt come accross any police. Although they may be there now as this was 30 mins ago. Lots of people have come to have a look though. Streets are packed
