I know there are some other SES people here.
Are any of you going to be a the search tomorrow?
I was there on saturday too - I even got 15 seconds on the ABC 7pm news!
And now for my bitch!
We (Canning Unit) were half way there today and the Search Base told us they didn't need us there and to turn around
We were fuming - We were already on our way - Logic says that with more people we have greater chance to find him, but they refused our help. Idiots
And they didn't let the search dogs come in until Saturday arvo - all SES people were pissed off at that
Also it wasn't until saturday that more SES units were caled in, they only had a handful on thursday and friday - everyone was pissed of about that.
All in all the search controllers have been doing a shocking job.

Possible sighting of him this evening at about 6:20pm. Police chased it up but believe it was not him.

It's very sad that this poor man has been lost for so long now, but as they were saying this morning on the radio, because of his disability he may not be acting in the way that lost people generally do - i.e. when they find a road, follow it.
I hope the searchers have better luck finding him today.

I was listening to the search today and someone hurt themselves, took then 3 hours to be finnally evacuated out of the search area by stretcher, just gives you a indication of the bushland we were searching in....

Im SES, Iv never heard of this one before, I know of the 2 North Korean men missing down neer margret river. But iv not heard anything from my unit.
As for the original post for this topic, SES search dogs were not called at all because there are no operational dogs in WA. (I work with them so i know)
As for being called back, Its pathitic i know, i know the feeling, its pointless and completly stupid BUT, that the politics of the SES.

It sucks but life moves on

about 3 weeks after the search for Andrew Catchpole was scaled back, and eventually stopped, it was his birthday, on the saturday of his birthday his family held a birthday/farewell party for him. All volunteers that had helped search for him were invited.
