Minor fires and other incidents 2017/18

This thread is to report and discuss small fires and other incidents that don't fit the categories for either the Significant Bush Fires or Major Structural Fires threads.

If you're not sure what should go where, feel free to contact a mod or admin and we're happy to help and advise.

Structure Fire Bickley Rd Cannington

19:17 Welshpool 1st, Welshpoool 2nd, Maddington and Canning Vale turning out
19:20 Maddington arrived 44 then a few seconds later said they can see smoking coming from a unit and to keep all other appliances coming firecall
19:23 Welshpool1st and 2nd arrived
19:24 2nd alarm smoke coming from a cleanaway truck and only require one more pump
19:37 Crews have just gained access and Maddington are going to keep Welshpool until it is under control

Perth CLP and Kiara in attendance

11:22 DO Swan mobile
11:29 DO Swan arrived
11:36 Casualty is in the hands of St. Johns
11:41 Perth CLP and DO Swan no longer required
11:44 Casualty was on roof and has been taken to Royal Perth Hospital all crews available

17:34 Welshpool 2nd turned out
17:36 Canning Vale turned out
17:40 Kensington turned out
17:41 Canning Vale arrived 66
17:42 Welshpool 1st turned out
17:43 Welshpool 2nd arrived
17:44 Welshpool 1st and Kensington stood down by 6AR for some reason Canning Vale classified confirmed 2nd alarm garden shed
17:49 Fire is contained and under control, request police as kids were seen running from the area and crews will be another 30-40mins

17:41 Jandakot 12.2 turning out
17:42 Fire under control and contained to the shed, Jandakot to continue firecall
17:43 Jandakot 12.2 arrived
17:52 Beenyup Rd closed in both directions
18:07 Currently removing sheets off 20m x 10m shed for overhaul

09:12 Osborne Park SET turned out
11:27 Duncraig and Osborne Park SET no longer required and returning to station
11:48 Wangara has been released and is leaving it in the hands of DO West Coastal
11:51 DO West Coastal is leaving it in the hands of WAPOL

Perhaps it is to do with this

11:44 Murdoch SET has been mobilised and address correction to 43 Cilantro Parkway
11:48 Murdoch SET turning out
11:52 Armadale 2nd turning out and Maddington arrived 66
11:53 Armadale 1st arrived making contact with Maddington
11:58 Armadale 2nd arrived
11:59 Welshpool 2nd can stand down but have arrived anyway as Armadale 2nd has arrived
12:07 Murdoch SET arrived
12:08 Fire crews have gained access and the fire is contained to one bedroom with slight damage to the roof space
12:10 Owners aren't in attendance so request WAPOL
12:16 Western Power has arrived
12:21 WAPOL arrived
12:22 Fire is extinguished and cannot find the cause of the fire so request FIO
12:48 Murdoch SET has been released
12:49 Maddington in process of making up and waiting for owners and will be there for at least 45mins

The following alert has been issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)

Please note changes to Bushfire Behaviour, What Firefighters are Doing and Extra Information sections


Time of issue: 01:53 PM
Date of issue: 03 November 2017


Bushfire ADVICE for eastern parts of BINNINGUP in the SHIRE OF HARVEY

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people travelling along Forrest Highway, near Pead Road, south of the Myalup Roadhouse, in BINNINGUP in the SHIRE OF HARVEY.

There is no threat to lives or homes.

There is a lot of smoke in the area.

Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

The fire started near the intersection of Forrest Highway and Taranto Road in Binningup.

There is smoke over Forrest Highway.

WHAT TO DO:

If driving

Be extremely careful when driving through the area.

Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.

Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.

If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.

If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

The bushfire is moving slowly in a easterly direction.

It is contained and under control.

The fire is burning on the western side of Forrest Highway.


ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS:
Roads have not been closed.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by calling 138 138 or visiting www.mainroads.wa.gov.au or by contacting the Shire of Harvey.


WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

Firefighters are patrolling the area and mopping up.

Approximately eight Bush Fire Service firefighters are attending.


EXTRA INFORMATION:

The fire was reported at 11:53 AM on 3 November 2017 and currently there has been approximately two hectares burnt.

The cause of the fire is accidental.

The Shire of Harvey is managing the fire.
