New DFES UHF channels discussion

Post by vk6hgr »

We've been discussing the new DFES/SES/WAERN channels in a couple of different threads now so I've created this one for the new DFES UHF channels specifically. Discussion on new metro VHF channels should go in the frequencies or SES VHF threads.

Searches in the ACMA database will only give the frequency, of course, not the channel. This is what I've found so far from ACMA which is almost certainly not complete or correct. Listen on these frequencies for any reference to the channel and post it in this thread, as well as any others you discover.

WA-wide simplex freqs:

BA Alpha - 200 - 467.9875
BA Bravo - 201
BA Charlie - 202

UHF Simplex 6 - 216 - 457.7125

Portable repeater pairs

458.0375 RX / 468.0375 TX
458.0875 RX / 468.0875 TX

Very close to the existing ESA/ESB channels so maybe frequency re-use..?

I've added these freqs to the DFES stream. I'm hearing the sort of simplex traffic that used to be on FRS 2. (Don't know the actual frequency triggered, yet)

Yep. Right hand is UHF, which used to be SES and some other miscellaneous stuff; now it's programmed with these channels. Left hand is still VHF (mid and high band incident channels, including simplex) but it's in "winter mode" at the moment so it also carries the audio from 6AR.

No, it does. The right hand audio is only the new frequencies. I just don't know what and how they're being used, which is what we're attempting to discover.
