WA SES VHF Channels

Post by roland985 » Sun Aug 28, 2016 8:01 pm

Hi folks, I was wondering what the new SES VHF, (not the current UHF) channels are?

It's been well known for over a year that DFES would be getting and assigning these channels. I still have not seen them. I'm assuming they are going to reassign some un-used WAERN general channels to WAERN-SES use? I've tried some License database searches, but I'm not seeing anything. Perhaps I need to look harder?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

Not sure where you heard that from?

ACMA are just implementing the HGS meaning freqs will change in the 400 meg range but not change band. Happy to be corrected.

Not sure where you heard that from?
At the 2015 Kalgoorlie Challenge, Comms stand.

One of the questions was:

"What frequencies [Sic] are the new SES channels on."

The answer was:

"VHF"

I got that wrong, as I guessed it was in the 400MHz band, but they stated VHF.

I've also heard it referred to in passing in our comms room at my unit.

Yeah. There will be less SES repeaters, which is good, as most COMCEN traffic will be over 6IP on the traditional VHF networks.
