Hi Folks.

With the change to WAERN there's a lot of information here but it's not in one easy to access place, so I'm setting to work on updating the channel list and writing some listening instructions, and I need your help.

From my own listening, I think I have the 6AR/6IP channels for the metro area. But being in the north-east suburbs I can only hear so much. So far I need:

* The 6AR channel(s) that Bunbury are using
* Fireground channels for outer metro areas outside my listening range - basically, north of Lancelin, north-east of Bindoon or so and outer southern suburbs.

Also:
* Air-ground and tactical channels that Helitacs use other than ch 644, 638 & 636
* DPaW info for the Perth metro area (don't hear much on their channels at all)

379 is Bold Park, 51 is Claremont.

263 is missing which is two rocks.

With "The fireground channel is a repeater channel between 354 and 365" <- they are the simplex channels. Not sure what 519.9 is used for as I haven't seen it used before. They can sometimes use simplex channels as the fireground channel. They typically will call it an Incident Communication Channel or "Command Channel" for slang.

Great start. Since it's a listening guide, maybe include some bits and pieces about how people can listen via our various streams etc if they don't have a scanner or are out of reception range?

Tnx for the update. 519.900 is FRS 2 on an old list I have, don't know if it's still called that.

Ch 51 and 379 seem to be on the same site according to ACMA.

I think Bunbury might be 163.7125 (372) from memory for 6AR but am not 100% on that one.

Sometime during the fire season, someone will ask the inevitable question - "Why can't I hear the sector channels?" when they're in Mandurah and the fire is in Wanneroo

If there's space (coz I assume we want to keep the listening guide to a single page if we can), maybe a sentence or two about why it'll be a lot more likely that someone can hear a linked 6AR/6IP channel, then a command repeater channel and down the bottom of the list the simplex sector channels.

Added 368 as an air tactical simplex channel.

Anyone know what channels the SES CSU portable repeaters operate on?

Okay. Got some great answers from the WASES facebook group.

Channels:
180, 295, 306 on High band VHF.
29 on Mid-Band VHF.

For SES, they can run any rpt channel they want.

Being fairly new to the area, I am trying to figure out how this whole network goes together.

Could someone, in a nutshell give a newbie an quick insite as to how the channels go together, and how to listen.. I have seen the term "duplex" used but am not sold on the fact that it is true "duplex" and is rather "semi-duplex".

Just in addition to figuring out the channels, does anyone know what is used in the Northbridge tunnel? It used to be the same as the old Wanneroo 78.xxxMhz frequency but in my travels through the tunnel this week it appears to no longer be active and out of the 4-5 local 163.xxxMhz channels scanning it isn't one of them.

Very good question. Back when everything was analogue (RIP), the Ambos had a repeater and ch 34 VKI, ch 55 and 57 6AR were retransmitted in there. Now, nothing at all.

If I had to (wild) guess, the project was probably paid for by WAPOL and they lost interest in converting the lossy feeder repeater system to be digital trunking compatible when they converted, so it was just switched off.
