RFDS and Rescue 65's services are covered by the the State Government.

The end user does not receive a bill for their services as is the case with St John Ambulance.

The operational costs of RFDS are not fully covered by the State or Federal Governments. They rely heavily on fundraising which consists of direct donations, philanthropic assistance and merchandising.

We are not talking about operational costs for each organisation.

The original question was whether or not you receive a bill for their services as an end user!

I think you will find that you will be charged for St Johns ambulance service - hence why alot of health insurance agencies provide ambulance cover.

I do not know the price for an airlift, but I would imagine it would be north of $1000 considering how expensive turbine choppers are to operate.

Anything I say is my opinion, and has nothing to do with/does not reflect the views of anyone I was/am/will be involved with/employed by/volunteer for/associated with. There, I think that should cover it!

Nafenn,

Rescue 65 is not a St John service, they only supply the Critical Care Paramedic for the aircraft and you will therefore not receive a bill from St John for any helicopter rescue or transport.

That may differ if there is any ambulance road transport involved.

Hi all
Lifted from The RAC Website.
{The RAC Rescue helicopter flies critical care specialists to an emergency incident and then transports the injured directly to the hospital that will provide them with the best care.

The helicopter is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year and responds to a wide range of emergencies including traffic crashes, searches, and cliff and sea rescues.

RAC Rescue normally operates to a range of up to200 kilometres from Perth, however this can be extended depending on the nature of the emergency.

The RAC Rescue helicopter is managed by FESA, funded by the State Government and RAC with CHC Helicopters providing the helicopter and flight crew and St Johns providing the paramedics.}
