Wooroloo on 164.5125 has 6AR traffic

There are a few others but there's not enough traffic at the moment to log them :)

Any others people are hearing?

Greenmount WAERN has 6AR now: 162.9875MHz

I'll update the WARSUG WAERN frequency chart with all the 6AR/6IP repeaters with information from this thread :)

Max signal into Ballajura. Pretty good location for northern and eastern suburbs.

Ok. I've updated the WAERN frequency list with all the 6AR channels I can hear here. (14!)

If you live SoR please have a listen out on the Rockingham, Mandurah etc frequencies and let me know which ones are 6AR.

Hmm. Red Hill channel 306 163.250 may have been replaced with channel 380 165.1875.

Seems all of the WAERN (VHF-high) frequencies are inactive. Only picking up 6AR on the old VHF-mid frequencies.

Must've been temporary... I was hearing WAERN stuff on the drive to work today (don't know which channels, the radio in the car uses voting :) )

The WAERN should be operational fully this summer. All vehicles are going to have a duel radio. Installation should occur over the next 3 weeks and training to follow on how to use it.

The WAERN system is already operational, with many channels/frequencies already active. Many appliances already have the WAERN green and/or yellow radios fitted.
But the move to complete WEARN operation replacing the old VHF-mid will probably not happen this summer. I doubt FESA is in a position to replace hundreds of radios and train thousands of staff and volunteers state wide in the next few weeks. I believe there is still some indecision about the instalation of either WAERN green (VHF-mid/VHF-high) or WEARN yellow (VHF-high/UHF) radios.
Our brigade has a mix of black (Tait 2020, VHF-mid) and green radios. We have been advised for this coming fire season to write on our T-Cards which radio we have in our vehicle, eg. Tait-Black, WAERN-Green or WAERN-Yellow.

From my casual listening, I don't think WAERN yet has the coverage of the midband network, although it's getting close. They evidentially have abandoned the plan to have metro career firies on UHF?

Anyway, surely they'll wait before switching completely to high band. Testing a brand new network at the beginning of a fire season just makes no sense.

In the metro, both systems will run side by side.

The plan is for all trucks to have both Mid and High band capabilities this summer. Predominately Mid band will be used, and high band used for sector channels at incidents and the like.

The full trnasition to high band willl not happen until next fire season after the bugs have been ironed out.
