I used to work in that area and never seen or heard of it. Not saying it doesn't exist though...maybe it goes by another name now?

Sussex BFB still exists under this name. It is located in the Shire of Busselton, south of Perth.

That said, I dont know where their shed is - try contacting the Shire of Busselton if you need to know.

Saw another 12.2 half way thru its build today. How many is that now? - at least 8? (not counting the Oakford 9.2 prototype which is quite different to the newer ones!)

Armadale 2nd is a HSR or a 2.4?

its classed as 2.4HSR

It was originally called a GPA (General Purpose Appliance) but is now often referred to as a Series 1 HSR.

Armadale 2nd has a 2.4HSR. (HSR 08) used to be the old GPA (GPA 16 or 18????) with 1800L

now its only got 1400L due to weight issues

That is why they are not referred to as 2.4s. The HSRs are based on a 2.4, but with all the extra equipment for the HAZMAT, Structural and Rescue responses, they carry far less than 2000L of water. The CFRS 2.4s (Malaga, Joondalup and Canning Vale) along with their BFS counterparts carry far less peripheral equipment and therefore have the full load of approximately 2000L.

The HSR's were clased as a 2.4HSR as they were originaly designed to carry 2400L but had to drop it down to 1800L due to weight.

They have dropped them futher as we keep on getting add ons to the truck. ie spinal boards so have had to reduce the water compacity to 1400L

I believe they are trying to get the new HSR S3 back up to 2400L but are having trouble sourcing a capible truck to carry all the weight and still be able to get access of road

You'll never see a Tatra in FESA service, for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, there's a reason why FESA use Isuzu chassis for almost all volunteer brigades. Isuzus are extremely common, so maintaience and sourcing spare parts is very easy - not something you can say for having an imported Czech chassis bought from a specialist dealer.

Also, FESA prefer WA Fire Appliances as their bodybuilders - as they can easily create custom specs for each type of appliance, and have the lockers fitted out to fit FESA standard gear - where as the Tatra comes with a body already built, which judging from the photos, cant take as much gear as a HSR can right now. As Buddah above said, the trend is to add gear, not remove it.....

It's a nice thought, but FESA would never buy something as radical as a Tatra.

Personally, I think FESA are going to have to sacrifice something down the line, be it 4wd, water capacity, or carried gear - they're up to a FTS 800 chassis, you cant get much bigger with 4wd.
