Just heard Air Intel (firebird 611) call up 6AR saying that they were near the fire east of York. Apparently the fire behaviour is out of control. From my house there is a HUGE plum of smoke.

driving to my brother in laws place east of giddieganup there was a big plume of smoke comming from york way looked like it was going nicely that was around 6pm tonight amazing how these big fires around 1hr from perth dont get much media attention, tv or newspaper writeups, but little fires around the suburbs do, i know that there is a lot more houses close by,but it is still good to know whats happening in the outside world, was surprised not to have heard anything about last nights fire because it was a pretty big smoke plume and i was supprised to see it out in the distance while driving to gidgee, because there had been no media reports on it.
A big fire has just started in Kalmunda
report was only 1/2 hectare, but they haven't really been giving sitreps, so its hard to tell whats going on (that and they've asked for aerial support since).

Just received info of a large bush fire in Pickering Brook that is probably what you are referring to. BFS, DEC and Water Bombers.

I don't think the fire will be going for much longer now so the livecam might turn out a dud. Well done to the crews!
