Was just having a look at
www.nearmap.com.
The latest photography is from 31st of Dec.
If you zoom in on Altone golf course in Lockridge you can see on of the helitacs filling up. Move accross to Bassendean and you can look at some of the action from Success Hill fire.

do the helitac's have set areas for themselves to operate in,or do they just get called to a fire as it happens eg.. 668/669 do they look after fires mainly north of river,670/671 mainly south or are they just called out in order if needed at a fire like 668 first and then followed by the rest. i hope this makes some sense

The Helitacs normally fly out in pairs according to their numbers. 668 & 669 attends the first fire upon requesting helitacs and then if they request more helitacs or another fire break’s out then 670 and 671 will attend
The only helitac which doesn't involve flying out according to there numbers or pairs is 681. So this means that the 681 can attend a fire by its self, be grouped (with either 2 or 4 others) or just receiving a request to join others already at the fire scene.
The only time it changes is when a helitac/s needs maintenance or isn't ready from fire fighting, then the helitacs may be pair with another heli (e.g 669 & 670) or if the fire ground requests only one small heli (e.g. 668)
I not sure of all of it, but most is correct

Generally 668-669 go out first, however they do alternate and the other day 668/9 went out in the morning and then 670/1 went out in the arvo.
