Rockingham has probably the weakest 3rd alarm fire of recent

3rd alarm only due to accessibility issues and is only 50m x 20m (1400)

its the bush contained by rockingham rd, office road, old mandurah rd and dixon rd- (or opposite the kwinana nickel refinery) in the very middle.

Hope Valley is there after helping rockingham first find the incident

Rockingham 1st said to make it a 3rd alarm due to accessibility and asked if he could have a General Purpouse Appliance (GPA) and a light tanker

So FESA sends out Canningvale 2.4 (apprx 40 mins away even fire call  )
and Success :|- even tho Rockingham 2nd is only 5 mins away

Control point is opposite the nickel refinery
main channel 98 (simplex) and fire ground channel 96 (simplex)

EDIT: Fire is now 5 hectares  (1440)
Now they want level 2 refreshments for 16 fire fighters

*Level 2 refreshments is just water/ maybe oj, tea/coffee, biscuits and fruit cake*
but then again, FRS do get better food than us vollies

EDIT: Rockingham 2nd lt now there, bout an hour since rockingham asked for those appliances

Before anybody goes quoting me about it being the weakest 3rd alarm- i just want to say that it was at the time and that im not going to change it because it reflects something that i wont go into.

EDIT:Rockingham 2nd GPA is now there (1510)

EDIT: now want weather forecast for next 2 hours

EDIT: now want a loader to help contain head fire (1520)

EDIT:Finally sending out bush fire appliances, but only 2 light tankers :? from baldivis (1530)- rockingham 1st and hope valley found the fire at 1330-1345

EDIT: baldivis 4.4 going to it, the lts have still not arrived (1550)
And they cant palm it of to calm either lol

EDIT:DM Beeliar doesn want the 4.4, he wants it to go back to station and wants the lts he asked for lol

EDIT: baldivis lt 1 and 3 finally going to the incident (1600) have arrived (1610) normal t/o

 yeah i know, thats probably why they dont like turning out bush fire brigades because they think we're stupid :x

But i can tell you that its probably from us doing this ](*,) everytime frs get turned out to such alarms when bush fire brigades are closer and have more vehicles capable for such terrain- but that can be a whole nother topic

oh yeah, thats my thoughts and opinions only and does not reflect that of my brigade or brigade members

had a busy day today,

heard waneroo and quinns at lake carabooda again!

anywho
we completed a control burn that took us around 4 hours our whole crew wer aleady tired from this
we returned to station and cleaned vehicles, got changed into normal clothes etc we wer waiting on lunch and the staion fone rang i jokingly said that would be funny if it was a fire not knowing calls went to the station, it was though

so we had almost the quickest turnout time on record
james and i got the vehicles out whilst every1 got dressed again

james was in the first light tanker that left the station and i was in the 3.4 we also had another lt in frront of us
anywyas aas we wer goin down the freeway could see the large smoke
when we got on the street we could barely see cars coming the other way and knw this wasnt a normal bushfire although it was on rural property

as it turns out ther was a small 3x3 shed full of fibreglass, wood and goodness knows whatelse........ anywho
our oic decided to get frs to back up due to the unknown contents of the shed, whilst everyone else was combattign the grass fires i was trying to combat the shed but couldnt get completely in due to the toxic fumes there wer also 2 gas bottles and a jerry can which we removed from the immedate area and a jerry can
the place was pretty bad
we managed to save the shed and when frs arrived like 20 minutes later
they just extinguishe inside it
and we got it all out

bit of excitment for the day and i beleive the owner was lucky we wer on station coz a few more minutes it wouldve been in the heavy bush next door and pretty much the whole way round his house and he wasnt homee

pheew

Are you from Mandogalup BFS? I think it was them that went to a shed fire and the Success FRS attended. Was that the job?

Roger that firefly, it wasnt just a shed fire, pretty much the whole property was alight, i was the one who gave the initial arrival code. The fire was rippin when we got there, good thing we were on station otherwise that guy would have lost a lot more than just the stuff in his shed. We only needed success due to the unknown contents in the shed.

About 30 mins during the fire, powerlines came down 1.2km's away on the same road and was a second alarm scrub fire by the time armadale 1st got there.

Pretty good day all up for me and chris

yeah everything is exactly the same in that I do the two days, two nights, 4 off. Basically in Perth you have the core and the relievers. The core are the ones who are permanently based at Perth station. The relievers are the extras who go to various stations to cover shortages such as when someone is sick, long service etc. They use Perth station as a relieving station due to its size. If there are no shortages anywhere we stay in Perth and ride the appliances there, although this is rare as there is normally someone sick somewhere. If I am covering a sickie I might only be at a station for one day but if someone is on long service I could be there for a few months. Its good in that you get to go to the different stations and get a good variety of jobs.

Currently they are implementing dispersed relieving which will mean there will be extras at various stations aroud the metro area from which they can cover shortages from.

yeah been there a few times and Success, although havent been to Rockingham. I live north of river so mostly take the sickies at stations north of the river. It is great although sometimes you feel like your living out of your kit bag. When I get annoyed at all the travelling I will put in for a station but I enjoy the variety and getting around seeing the different guys at the moment
