I don't think they would - No. Because I think they are contracted for Airport Emergencies/Airport Fires - and a strictly bound within the limits of the airports -thats why we don't see them out on the public roads.

Would be vary rare Kombi. The airport fire services are contracted for a certain number of trucks and what size they are in order to land specific planes. ie. All airports that are going to receive the new large planes all are being upgraded in firefighting.

However in saying this the airport tenders turned out to assist in melbourne at coode island due the large volume of foam they could supply on the fire.

Thanks for that, when I worked for Qantas in the 70's the biggest A/C was a Boeing 707 and there were only 2 big tenders and a small one, like the light tankers, when the 1st 747 arrived late 70's, they got a bigger unit, that tower was the control tower, International side had not been built then.

They have been used outside of the airport. I personally have had them at jobs I have been to. Havent had them at a job I have personally been at for a couple of years The most recent would have been the large smorgan scrap metal fire near Collier Rd in Bayswater where they had one appliance there and used there large monitor to stream water into the scrap metal pile.
