Used for RCR and not a lot else, fires are extremely seldom. Did you see what type it was? I wasn't into all this sort of stuff when I was there so didn't pay any attention, haha

Believe it was parked at an oil spill and a car wrapped itself around the tail end... apparently the car was a write-off. Apparently it was pretty bad... heard four or five cars crashed and two motorbike riders came off their bikes...

Mazda LP

Post by written_ficton »

As I presume these units are slowly being replaced and a few are left, mainly the likes of Guilford & Bassendean VFRS.

So ultimately what did these LP replace... How did they perform on the battle ground, did crew like them what were the shortfalls / pitfalls.

Do you love um, or do you hate them? I'd be interested to hear, as would most people I presume on this board.

Cheers,

WF

From my understanding they replaced Bedfords.

The LP was great at what it could do but didn't have the pump and roll capability that many people asked for. As they got older they got slower and some became real pieces of snot. The pump to tank valve was my big issue - knowing when to use it or not.

I seem to recall an incident somewhere a while ago.. they had alot of grief getting the PTO to engage and disengage on that particular appliance. Was that common?

what is the difference between a new country pump and a new HSR.

Yes Fastlane, that did become an issue with some.

kwn - basically it's as follows...
Country Pumper - 2 wheel drive, 1250L of water, 2800L/min @ 7 Bar
HSR Series 2 - 4 (or 2) wheel drive, 1500L water, 1850-1900L/min @ 7 Bar
