I am picking up some traffic on 76.125 (Ch 96 or 23?) from Air intel and sporadic from Ground Control.
Using UBC76XLT Handheld and standard aerial.
Fire is dangerously out of control due to terrain etc.
Lots of flare up spots (Using FLIR)
Fire is moving slowly but still not under control.

Hi Treeny, hopefully we will be OK we are just sitting on front verandah with a coldy watching the glow. It's moving slowly towards our way but the easterly is starting to kick in which will blow it away. Will keep close eye on it, weird feeling it's an absolute ghost town up here no one is aloud back up understandably as 20 mins ago houses were still under threat. I heard from my dad (on duty tonight) that they have lost a home and outbuildings which is very sad.

I'm going for a drive now to check out fire threat. The red and white helicopter (is that air recon) has been circling around now for past 20 mins. I take it they are either assessing damage or getting better view to fight fire? Will let u know what I see.

Hi all, just got back from a quick drive to see what is happening here in Brigadoon. Still loads of fire trucks up here blacking out I cant believe the large area burnt and how damn close houses were to being lost (I believe 2 were and sheds, stables etc), we are very lucky! There seems to be plenty of smoldering spots over a very large hilly area and I hope that these will not flare up when the sea breeze kicks in this arvo. Brigadoon is still under full evacuation and I believe there is a meeting at the State Equestrian Center 8.30am (I shall have to rely on neighbours for info otherwise I cant get back home!)

cheers

A bit thin on the ground tonight. I think the Bull Creek fire might be suspicious. Im sure that when they forecast a severe or catastrophic fire warning that all the "loonies" come out.
