Major smoke plume up Wannaroo direction (North of Ballajura anyway) might be that? Passed Malaga firies a few minutes ago but they weren't under L&S.

Ahh ok thanks mate :) That's probably what it is - I keep forgetting the level where I am and seeing things to be further out than what I thought. I looked at the Google Maps and plotted a course from my building and thought the smoke was from the Dianella Open Space scrub land.

We had a Hazard Reduction Burn last night (Tues) and we have a HRB scheduled for tomorrow night (Thurs) not aware of anything tonight (Wed) unless it was pager call.

Thursday afternoon saw Perth Heavy Rescue responding under fire call down St Georges Terrace. It was interesting to see them cross the medium strip and head the wrong way down St Georges Terrace.

Excellent job, givin the traffic conditions and damn that horn is loud.

Saw Canningvale Pump and LT going down apsley rd in willetton with their lights on but no sirens. this was at peak hour on friday afternoon. can anyone tell me why they wouldnt have the siren on and why if under firecall (which judgeing by what they were wearing it was firecall) they werent driving like they were on firecall.

An emergency vehicle doesn't have to have both lights and sirens going. They may have accidentally had the "park" lights switch activated.

sounds like they were stood down to either normal road or if backing up stood down all together. sometimes it is innapropriate for them to turn everything off. they will turn off there siren and then there lights when the area isnt as crowded as cars may have been getting out of there way and wouldnt appreciate moving out of the way only to have them turn there lights off and drive normal

On the freeway this arvo near the mill point road exit, i saw 3 DEC fire appliances planting trees on the river bank. 2 crew trucks and an LT.....and they all had red and blue lights. interesting thing to note, and correct me if im wrong, but i thought all DEC trucks had red and amber.
