I was at the Wattleup fire this arvo on Jandakot LT2, i think they just wanted to take care of it with local units and bringing Mandogalup in may have forced them to raise to a 3rd alarm which i don't think they wanted to do. The main call was also for LT's which we have the two so that might of put us ahead of Mandogalup. We have about the same response time ( < 5mins from station ) so i didn't see any major drama's. South Coogee 2.4 also made an appearance. Hope Valley and Murdoch were relieved by Freo 1st and Canningvale around 1830 - 1900 so they could return to station to change over the day crews. Most of the BFS units were released by around 1930.

Chooky you guys turned out just in the knick of time. Because of the large delay in you guys turning out from station Murdoch was on the radio requesting that if you still hadn't turned out the wanted FRS crews to be mobilised so they could get a grip on the fire before it got to big. You guys turned out like 30 seconds after..........

Yeah, we were already rolling and waiting for them to get off the air so we could call in. We could have turned out a LT quicker but we like to stock up all the units with drinks first, move the units out, lock up etc. etc. which helped all the units turn out in quick succession. From pager msg to turn out took us about 20min, which i don't think is bad during work hours and so many of our members work outside of our area. We would have been on site within 25mins which is only 10 - 15mins behind the pro's benchmark.

P.S. We also beat our sister brigade South Coogee on site, who are closer!!! Hahaha

Yeah Helitak, when i'm working from home on some days, i'm only less than 5mins away from the station on a work day. This incident, unfortunately i wasn't and neither were any other members, so some days are better than others which is the nature of the beast of volunteering i guess.

standard turn out time at our station is 7mins. during the hours of 6am and 6pm, they will also turn out maddington to our calls, as ops room knows that it is hard to get a day time crew, but 75% of those calls, we do have some people around during the day.
