24 is a vehicle classification meaning it carries 2,000lt of water and is a 4x4 same with 34, 44 being 3,000lt - 4,000lt with 4x4 capability appliances.

You'll hear 'east swan 2.4 rural' being bushfire appliance carrying 2,000lt of water and has 4x4 capabilities or you'll hear 'west swan 3.4 urban' being a bushfire structural appliance carrying ba, 3,000lt of water and has 4x4 capabilities.

The only other codes you would here are alarm classification 1st Alarm, 2nd Alarm ect with a status either 44, 66 or 88

44 - no sign of fire
66 - found fire and able to control with appliances in attendence (may require one other brigade from in the district if needed though)
88 - Require back up from out side districts brigades.

these codes are give on arrival to secene after that the alarm classification may change if the fire gets larger in scale which the first brigade on scene will give a sit rep making the change in alarm classification and asking for what appliances he/she may want.
