Any of our members been on the ground for the fires in Swan View-Hovea-John Forrest NP Tyranus? 5001020? meg?
Any sit reps re: area burnt, property damage? They were only a few km's East of me and i often go walking up that way. Shame to see it burnt, especially if it was deliberate

Nope haven't been, yes it was deliberate...Hazard reduction burns, yeah it always is but the ash will spark new growth and help reduce the intensity of any fires that do come through that area. As far as I'm aware no burns planned for tomorrow at this point.auntys_eyes wrote:Any of our members been on the ground for the fires in Swan View-Hovea-John Forrest NP Tyranus? 5001020? meg?

Yep - they were DEC (formerly CALM) hazard reduction burns.
On that note, I see that their redeveloped NatureBase site has a whole section (linked from the front page!) of "Todays controlled burns" so that hills livers like me who work in the city can see if the smoke on the horizon is something to be concerned about.

Or you can head to FESA.wa.gov.au and under Emergencies there's a link called alerts where they update all emergency alerts
