Recently I was required to assist WAPOL radio techs. We were testing a number of radios that are only used during special events. Currently they are still using analoug radios on two channels, plus two emergency channels A & B. All for of these are analoug frequencies. How ever, radio testing. We plugged in one radio it didn't work, we new the power supply was good, so the problem was with the radio. The tech decided the best option was to "throw" the radio in the to hard basket. His technical verdict was the radio is "f@#% ed". Ok fault finding 101, check power leads, checked the fuse, Oops the fuse had blown, replaced a 3A glass fuse, with a 10A glass fuse, presto radio works. The techs were ready to give up on the radio...... So much for tech support
if you need to ask, then you don't need to know

Ouch. Those radios aren't cheap!

The two ES channels, A and B are shared between emergency services and are 458.025 and 458.075. Should be analogue but I hear the odd digital P25 encrypted conversation every so often (think its the ambos doing that, though)
