Telecommunications Riggers

Post by whitty »

My current job finishes anytime now (electrical t/a in construction) and while looking around I've noticed quite a few listings for telecommunications riggers. I'm wondering if anyone here works as one or knows more about what they're looking for when hiring?

I have my advanced riggers ticket though the only rigging experience I have is 5.5yrs as a distribution linesman with western power. I've also got a computer science degree and did 2.5yrs as a radio operator in the army reserve.

Unfortunately I live a couple of hours south of Perth so the chances of getting a start even for fifo work are slim but I'm still interested to know the requirements or even what's involved in the job.

Cheers.

Wow. I came back after a year looking for the same info and forgot I had posted this. I forgot I had considered this work before.
