hey turbo, you dont happen to own the vehicle [THE LINK] or something similar? has anyone else seen this vehicle driving around? looked like a private van to me, but you would have to be a very serious hobbiest to hook this gear on your van.

No I wish I owned that! I have seen it a few times but have not been able to catch up to it. Looks like a very proffessional unit.

Thrill will put a pic up tonight - dont get excited though...

The Link is the OB vehicle for Mix 94.5 and 92.9. Pretty unexciting inside though. Two way in the front, two way in the rear. DBX, Compressor, RVR transmitter, FM receiver and Mixing desk are bolted in. Loose components in the van are just OB broadcast gear like wireless mics, amps, mixing desks, mic stands, speakers, generators, inverters, cables and so on. On the roof is a left and right polar yagi array on a Clark air powered mast.

If you wanna see inside the Channel 7 News Cruiser Terry won't mind giving you a quick squiz at all if you run into him at an OB.

Cheers Wes, must admit that i don't know what many of our regional studios drive. Kalgoorlie had a Subaru wagon at one stage, and i believe the Broome and Karratha offices have Landcruisers. Radio 720 in Perth have a red Commodore wagon similar to the one above. Have to say i can't work out why they are red, and i think the signwriting is a bit weird (for the ABC  )

Due to a Hire Car mix up yesterday (no you can't put a load of camera, sound and lighting gear in the back of a new Tarago  ), i was working from the ABC Local Radio car for the day.

I take it that last shot is from somewhere within the bowels of the ABC's East Perth Bunker? ;)

Correct. It's the ground floor carpark. The 'caged' area at the back of the shot is the 'secure compound' where our News/CAff & production vehicles are kept, and behind the brick wall is our 'crew room'.

We use LOTS of different gear, for various jobs. Anything in particular you're curious about??
