Foxtel and thier comercials.

Hi all. This post is for foxtel subscribers.
Has anyone yet questioned why Foxtel charge us $30 - $110 per month for Pay TV yet they still find the nerve to insert Adsvertisments in thier shows, and if they cant find any, then they insert advertisements of what is on in the next few days on that channel, and if they cant do that, then they find advertisements of whats on other channels. How much money do these people need? They never had to show ads during the good old days of foxtel/Galaxy last decade.

and the adds get longer and more frequent at peak times of the day. Just waiting for them to start putting adds on the movies channel during the movies.

The only reason I watch it is the fact that my flat mate had it put on, otherwise there would be no way in hell i would pay for it...

What he said. I couldn't see myself paying for Foxtel, especially now that the FTA HD channels are well and truly up and running.

Long live Free To Air!

Same here. It's ok enough and with an IQ it's simple to skip the ads, but if I were a movie junkie I'd be pretty cross about about paying $5.95 for a PPV movie and having ads!

Why pay for something you can get for free. As Clontarf[X] said, with the FTA HD channels there are now 9 free to air channels available, with more to come. (Would have been 10 if Channel 31 had survived)

dosnt pay tv mean that not only do you get more channels but your fees cover the cost of putting ads on.
I guess they want everything don't they $$$.
And i will say that FOX8 has changed, its almost like watching Channel 10 now, just the theme and the voice overs. it used to be basic before, especialy in the 90s and before foxtel digital came along, used to be very basic, no ads, no fancy ways of advertising programs that are on in the next few days and it was just basic. the only cool thing about foxtel now is that shows like forensic investigators are screened at 7am in the morning!, well it has done :) That I dont mind.

We recently turned the foxtel off. It was getting so all the shows we liked were repeating.......

When we were living in Canada a few years ago, $40 per month got you basic cable (32 channels) broadband via cable (10G limit) and 2 phone lines with unlimited untimed local calls.

There were ads on most of the channels

I know they are next to the US, but Canada is a similar sized country with a similar population to us.

Go figure!

Actually Canada has about 1/10th the population of the USA, but anyway ;-) I'd pull the plug right now, as well - if I had a choice. I can think of a lot better things to spend the $$$ on. For me, mostly
