Hi folks.
It's rare these days for me to bother to tune to FTA analogue TV but the other day I was watching a bit of Access 31. Interesting programming, but I couldn't help but notice that although I'm in a prime signal area (I can receive every other channel like crystal with just a coathanger in the antenna socket!) and use a high grade external antenna, my Access 31 picture is crappy.
Everyone else I've asked also get a lousy picture. Does anyone anywhere actually receive a good noise-free channel 31 TV? Are they having technical problems?

Yeah. That certain quasi-FTA satellite service that occasionally rebroadcasts Access 31 is obviously using an off-air link because it shares the same crappy picture quality.Nick wrote:Even off the satellite the pix is poor and less than half vhs quality with a very grainy picture(quite often with muffled audio as well. Always is poor but somedays worse than others.
I wonder what ch31 will do once everyone's on digital...?

the reason ch 31 has crap reception is due to license regulations. i have no idea how power freq. work with TV towers, but ch 31 maybe restricted to, say, 35W; but Ch 7 can broadcast at 100W power (for example).
it works that way for radio (commercial v community / regional v metro / AM v FM) so i presume its the same for TV.
