ABC Open Day

If you have ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a TV or Radio station, then wonder no longer. The ABC in Perth, as part of the ABC's 75th anniversarry, is holding an Open Day on Sunday August 19th.

Got my schedule for the Open Day. I you are coming along look out for me at the following spots.

10-12 operating a camera at the 'Main Stage' (Kids Concert)
12-2 filming segments for 'RollerCoaster' in the main TV studio (Studio 61)
2-4 operating a camera at the 'Main Stage' (Grown-ups Concert)

Managed to get down there this arvo and take some pictures. Apologies for the quality, forgot my camera so they were taken with my phone

Even though we saw just a small amount of the building, I'm amazed at how much more space ABC have compared to their old building!

Front of the ABC building. There were tents and marquis set up outdoors with sausage sizzles, a live radio show and meet-your-ABC-celebrity.



The first room we were led into was a sound stage with live performances by classical musicians (ABC FM). Was standing room only so didn't get any pictures.

Through the huge sound stage doors there was a short walk to the TV studio. It was quite dark so it was hard to get any good pictures here.

The 9 million dollar digital OB van. People were lining up to go inside but without an umbrella, I wasn't willing to stand in the rain!

What no pictures of ME Did i stand in the rain all day for nothing . c_i if you had turned around behind you, you would have had a perfect shot of me on the scaffold . Gav, what time did you go through Studio 61 (the big TV studio)?? I was in there between 1230 and 1330 shooting segments for RollerCoaster. To the WARSUG members that introduced themselves, hello and thanks. And to all the others that went along, i hope you had a great time despite the foul weather.
