Nah, it's a different vehicle, but it is the older one of the two.

A couple more fresh pics.

This is the ABCTV News/CAff Falcon with the BLACK roof rack (as opposed to the previous pic with WHITE roof rack!).

This is the second of the Channel 7 Perth news link vans.

this picture was taken by a CIA spy sat of the news @ night cruiser

it is a custom design vehicle from the "hot Wheels" company and is thought to be the only one in Australia

You should of modded your 4 WD instead of selling it.

I just re-read this post and realised it was directed at me. Only a small group of people would know my musical preferences AND previous vehicles. :?

Reveal yourself Green Bastard!!!! and satisfy my curiosity. (please :) )

any chance of a peek inside of the beast to see how you have set up your scanner/scanners in the beast

and infact if anyone else can grab a shot of inside any news vehicle it would be great to see what and how they are set up

Yay Turbo - i knew my persistence would pay off. My mission is nearly complete. Thanks for finally satisfying my curiosity. :D

Had a GWN news car behind me at a job today, but didn't have my camera  (note to self: must buy another camera).

Thrill's earlier pic of the Night News Cruiser (er.. sorry.. Beast) wasn't that far off.

Thrill - ABC news cars don't have scanners or 2-way radios fitted any more. Our only communications are mobile phones. Some of the 7,9 & 10 cars have scanners, but i think it comes down to the personal preference of the cammo. Don't know who has 2-ways (UHF/VHF). Green Bastard may have more to add???

10's news cars have radios fitted with GPS so that the News Room can see where thay are. The crews don't usually turn them on

whats the point of having a scanner if they don't turn it on

how are they going to know what is going down if they don't use it?

That's what the chief of staff is for... they listen to scanners in the news room and then send the cammo's and journo's out to make a story.

They don't often have time to listen to the scanner in the car when they are too busy trying to navigate parking, set up cameras in a hurry and keep safe at the same time.

All of 9's news cars have VHF which they can use to talk to the news room, and some have scanners.

The link trucks have UHF, VHF, scanner and GPS.

Aaawww..... I've lost my monopoly as the media vehicles guy. :)

You are the everywhere man Tom!! (Looks like it may have been a 7 car parked in front.)

If you're really out to impress get me a shot of the only GWN car in town. It's a dark blue Falcon(?) wagon with yellow signage.

Thrill - We have at least 3 scanners on the go in our news room. Bonez is right. Most times the Chief of Staff is getting the info (and verifying with WAPol/FESA/SJA) and relaying it to the Journo by phone, so that we cammos can concentrate on driving, parking and shooting while not getting ourselves or anyone else into trouble.

I just looked through all my photo's from my time at GWN, and although I was unable to find any vehicles, I may be able to go one better with some pictures of their operations :)

Sorry if i've started something by taking the thread off topic, but it seems that there's a few people here that may be interested, so I thought i'd share..
