There have been a few posts of late regarding media vehicles, so i thought i would start posting pics from around town. Hope you like
These first few are ABC
ABCTV News and Current Affairs have 3 Falcon wagons and 3 Toyota Prados. The Falcons have the distinctive after market roof racks (2 white & 1 black).
Depending on the station, these vehicles are reffered to as 'live eyes', 'links cruisers', 'news cruisers', 'live links' etc. We call ours 'news links'.
Channel 9 Commodore.
These are the Channel 10 Holden Adventras.
One of the older Channel 7 Commodores.
7's news link is a Holden Suburban.
Will try and get an ABC Prado and the Channel 10 news link when i can.

imacop, the type of vehicle networks choose as ENG trucks has varied over the years, starting with Bedford vans in late 70s, then the Ford Bronco and Toyota Landcruiser. It comes down to which vehicle best suits the weight of the equipment added (including the telescopic pole) and things like the number of seats that will be retained (Seven may have wanted an extra row of seats for example, a Landcuiser ENG vehicle often needs the back seats removed).

Few more pics from today. Naughty politicians and sports stars always brings us media together.
Here are a couple of pics of ABCTV News Prados.
This is the other 9 News ENG Van. It is slightly different to the one above (this one has the 'personalised' plates).
This is one of 7's three new Commodores. 2 for News and 1 for Today Tonight.
If any of you non metropolitan members get a chance to snap a pic of any GWN, WIN or ABC Rural cars that would be great.

Spot on, and the HF antenna on the front of the 9 eng vans is not hooked up to anything. It's measured to be the same length as the highest point of the van. It acts as a guide, if you are driving somewhere and you think you might hit the roof then you keep a real close eye on that HF whip, and if it bends then you stop, as quick as you can
