The channel 9 link trucks have scanners in them. As far as I know, it's only the driver (engineering dept, not news normally) who uses them, and it's only if him or her choses to use it. It's not a requirement to have them turned on or anything for work purposes, as auntys_eyes has stated, they have COS's for that, who man the desk back at the station and listen for any action, then just send the crew there to do the filming.

edit: just remembered, there also still be a couple of news cars (station wagons) that have scanners in them. Whether they get used or not, I don't know.

All the 9 news cars have scanners in them and they get a good work out.
Each crew also has a hand held scanner but they aren't used as much.

how about SBS, do they have a van or wagon, and channel 31 do they have a marked car.

also what about radio stations

SBS has no facilities in WA. Have no idea what Ch31 have but considering they are a community based, predominantly volunteer broadcaster i can't imagine they have a 'fleet'.

Most of the major commercial radio stations have marked cars for their promotional/corporate fleet. For example the 96fm 'Thunders' used to be 3 Landcruisers, and when Nova first started they had a few old Ford ambulances.

Glad to see its still in service!
