Hey, this is interesting. The news presented stated that the crew member was signalling the aircraft with a mobile phone, however when the aircraft comes to land you can see the crew member has a touch because of how well it lights the ground up in front of him. I mean im not saying that they are falsley portraying the abilities of the NVG equipment they are using, I am just saying.
Correct me if im wrong.

Nah, it looks that way through NVG because that's what NVG does, it takes a very little bit of light and amplifies it. so a dull mobile phone with very dull light on the ground will look bright with a bit more light on the ground.

Even if he was using a torch, a phone light is still better than nothing, and have you seen how bright some phone's are these days? Hell my cheapy one lights up my room by itself.

Yorky, you didn't by any chance record Se7en news tonight? Especially the segment on ranges and other training facilities. I only managed to catch bits and pieces while kids were in both ears. It might be of interest to some WARSUG members as well
