Cleanskin / Clearskin?

Post by Louis »

When police pull someone over for a traffic stop they often say the person's a cleanskin? clearskin?

Can someone please tell me which one it is and what it means?

Thank You so much.

He is a good little boy or has been lucky enough not to be caught for anything :) In other words has no convictions for ANYTHING :) within the Spent convictions ACT :)

And another :?: are there two different systems currently being used to look up details? I have noticed VKI looks them up and usually the requestor asks them to look it up on IMS also. What are the two systems and if they have similar information, why aren't they combined into one to save time and effort????

Not everything is on IMS, Main Frame has everything. You will hear on the enquiries Channel when main frame goes down VKI will not be able to get officers certain information.

There is actually 4 systems in use CAD, (CAD can do Name and Vehicle checks) OIQ, CDS, (mainframe) and IMS.

No one system has all the information available on it.

Eventually all the information will be merged on to IMS but this is still several months away.

Yes you absolutely can do name and Veh checks using cad. Next time your on the inquiry channel ask the operator. Say I don't want you to do one but can names and veh's be accessed through Cad? The answer will be a definite yes.

If you can remember back to when VKI stopped using mainframe for checks they were using CAD but because it was so slow and there was so many complaints about it OIQ was born almost overnight.

OIQ also has a number of issues speed being one, timing out another, failure to retrieve all available (or incorrect) data another hence a number of operators are using mainframe for basic NIS (MDL) and VIS and IMS for full name checks.

I have heard operators on the inquiry channel say to cars NIS, VIS, or full IMS check.
