VKI asking cars to refrain from using Channel 13 as it has been compromised by illegal radio transmissions

Probably someone with half a brain,

These days anyone can program a radio these days to illegally transmit on Police frequencies, well infact most frequencies.

Bit hard for someone to steal a portable dont you think ;)

This problem has been around for years, not just to police but on many other frequencies/services.

I take it VKI are not Digital yet??

The police in Bunbury had a Motorola GP339 handheld stolen a few days ago.

At least one seems to get stolen every new years eve in the crowds.

No, not yet - though I believe TRG, Gang Response etc are already testing/using it???

Te-he..
So someone actually pinched a policeman's radio oh my..
Do they take the radios home with them? Could be someones kids mucking around with the radio or something like that perhaps..

Most cops don't take radios home with them, it would be only a select few that would be allowed, most likely detectives, motorbike police etc. The general cops who use police vehicles take all their gear back to the station with them before clocking off shift...

it was more than one voice and it was adults, if it was a stolen police radio then why only stick to central channels and not all the others also

Might not know how the radio works or may even think it was a CB and starting playing silly buggers after realising the radio was a police one.

This is probably one of the top reasons why the WA Police want to go to digital. Stolen radios can be killed over the air and rendered useless. (There are ways to do this over analogue radio too, but I digress... 8) )
