Yes apparently Barrack St in front of the Bell Tower has been the first to trial it, I'm not sure if there are others.

Geez, Good to know.

I'll have to watch my speed when going past there... Although the only time I go past there is on an escort.. Probably should be extra careful in a work vehicle

Riverside Drive x Barrack Street - targets Speed & Red Light functions for Westbound Traffic...

This is the only one currently in operation.

this speed/red light camera is a 2 piece set up, there is a sensor on a pole 20 meters behinde the camera, i believe it can get traffic going both ways along riverside dr. east/west

personally i think speed cameras are a poor cop-out by the police and government.

they are used purely for making money, they are placed in areas that are busy, rather then dangerous. they dont go on strike or demand better working conditions, and they dont let people off like a police officer would.

putting more officers on the road is what should really be done. there could be an officer around any corner. now you can drive from one side of th metro area and see only one cop car, if that! there isnt enough of a police presance, and it takes 20-30mins at least for them to responde to a call.

The last three times I've called Police they took ~15min, 2 hours (graffiti and then offenders on premises), and 25min (car v tree v tree) respectively.

Car vs Wall 5mins
Brawl - 1min
Offender on premise, 2 mins

I'm on a good run :)

This 'weapon' has been on trial now for a while... Just WAPOL has decided to broadcast it now.
