My database has no listing for YU.
Y is the Wheatbelt district, could it have been YV (York)??

Beverley used to be part of the Great Southern for FESA. It's now handled through the Midlands. From memory FESA follow the Police districts so maybe Beverley are part of the Midlands district?

I'm not to sure but i think that if Doc saw YU then the best bet is that it is Beverly call sign.
And yes, to confirm YV is from York

Got some great shots of the WAPOL cars at this weekends Southbound Concert in Busselton. Will post tomorrow - alot of these pics are fan-boody-tastic.
