Hi guys, I was looking for the thread that the person who worked at the PAC started, can't seem to find it.

Basically quick question, if any body works there can they give me a PM. question re : employment.

just a silly question, what is PAC??

It's the centre that the call's for Police (at least 131 444) come into I believe.

Police Assistance Communications I think. As opposed to POC which is Police Operations Centre which is in the next room. PAC takes the 131444 calls while POC takes the 000 calls and are across the room to the dispatch guys that dish out the jobs to the cars.

Spot on Fatti....that way if there is need for an urgent attendance from a 000 call, the operator can just shout over to the console operator in the district to which police need to attend.

It would be a shout too as its not a small room. Its more a hall size with each operators console housing 6 monitors so they all have a big desk each. POC operators on one side of the room (about 6 I think) and the dispatch guys over the other with each controlling a district. As the POC operator types on her screen it appears on the screen of the appropriate dispatcher who then assigns it to the closest vehicle to which it then appears on the cars TADIS machine. This all happens in a matter of seconds.

Thats the theory anyway. In all reality it can still take them 40 minutes to get to you regardless of where you live. The Police should always be your plan B.
