5 minutes ago, VKI dispatched 4 cars to a Midland location - to attend Car vs Train, serious injuries have been reported.
Traffic is heavy on Great Eastern Hwy (through Guildford Grammar). FESA Midland 1st and 2nd in attendence - SJA dispatched 2 Priority 1's....

Sad.. It was a country P plater. 18 years old. Its believed he was lost and reading a road map and crept forward onto the tracks as a result the train struck the car and resulted in the driver of the car being killed.
The Driver of the train is being treated for shock and there are no further injurys as a result of the impact.

From 6PR:
A teenage P-plate driver has been killed after the car he was driving was hit by a train at a level crossing in Guildford.
Investigators say the driver made an illegal right turn onto East Street before being hit by the train.
The train was an express on its way to Midland.

I heard a news report that witnesses at the scene had said he attempted to make a U-turn on the track!
