Re: Joondalup Police Station Firebombed
I would imagine that WAPOL would be a good point of call for the security gaurds, obviously not all police stations are manned 24/7 but i would be hoping that if an early enough call was made about someone suspicious hanging around a police station, WAPOL would have a fast and efficient enough response to deal with the situation.
I personally think that security on WAPOL station seriously needs an upgrade, we expect nothing but the very best from the police force in their services and response to situations, and from all my encounters with them i have recieved nothing but the best, however it would appear that they are provided with less than secure complexs and parking areas.
I have travelled to several different countries, and have seen some of the police stations, and they are most definately not lax with security, I know that Australia is not America where people have access to weapons and explosives,(not that that is needed with the recent incident at Jonndalup and Warwick) but im sure that the government could justify a few extra dollars out of the budget to invest in our officers safety. All this money is poured into training, recruiting and weapons for officers, but it appears to me like the stations have been forgotten in the scheme of things.
I think that electric gates with a swip card need to be mandatory, and windows with roller shutters in all police stations.
Im sure this isnt too much of an ask for the people who protect and serve us.
Dunks

Interesting to note [way off topic] that in South Africa in some police stations they emplopy private security guards armed with semi automatic weapons to guard the police station.
I always thought that was strange.....

Yep, I'd definitely file that under "strange" as well.

doesn't surprise me considering some shopping centres they had security which involved people on the roof with rifles watching over the car parks.
