i think all should be fitted with LED, sum dogers have them fitted to the back of there cars... as i said to A Member in a MSN Convo . What's the point in puting LED light at the back of the car? wen the police car has already past the cars looking at them lights ? they should be at the front of the car where the cars the unmarked is apraoching can have full Veiw of the car coming . anyway thats my 2cents worth

Yeah but then again they are useful for unmarked traffic cars which pull a large number of cars over.

Approaching from the rear, the stick on magentic light on the roof is hard to see in certain light conditions and the LED's are clearly visible at any time of the day.

Those deck-blasters mounted the front windscreen on some specialist unit cars and traffic cars are a waster of time in my opinion. Should all have hidden front grille LED lights in the unmarked cars.

And ALL unmarked cars should have dark window tinting.

cheers

I spose having LED in the grill, and on the rear dash would be the best . aswell as having the Deckblasters and beacons . The More Flashing Lights the Better

They are ment to be unmarked...not dicretely marked, LED's for saftey?? as in a possible hazard up ahead???
They dont often park in unsafe spots, i wouldnt imagine that there would be a need for them...

I can't see the point in having deck-blasters if the car doesn't have window tinting.

If you pull up to next to it at the traffic lights you can spot them a mile off, might as well just be marked cars.

The concept of having plain cars is useless, if the emergency light are clearly visible.

Millsy, that shot I posted yesterday of AZ210 is a good example of how an umarked car should be set-up, with window tinting and hub-caps. Inconspicuous...

TE201 even has stuffed teddy bears on the back parcel shelf!!

Yeh! that was good shot by the way. Perhaps they Could Look Into Buying Deckblasters that don't sit up on the day all the time ? ... the new LED Strips that are for inside the cars are a good idea. Low Profile, Yet , they give out such a Bright light ...

Take a close look at the aerials next time you see an umarked car and if you know what to look for they look nothing like a mobile phone kit aerial, similar in height but a different type of antenna.

Some cars even have them hidden on the back parcel shelf now.

Their are 2 features which are a dead give-away when picking an unmarked/plain car (VY/VZ Commodore) although I won't post them on a public forum.

Like Ludacris said the real crims can pick a plain car at a distance, if you know what to look for..

No Probs diannpf , Thats how you learn things ...

LED is a Light Emitting Diode. In Other Words A Very Bright Light....

Regimentals are the Numbers On The Officers Chest lol. For Example 1234. Every Officer Has One. No One Has the same Regimental.

Here's an Example Of LED For Unmarkeds ....

I agree LEDs should be fitted to unmarked cars for patrol and traffic duites. They have good visibility night and day, draw low power consumption and can be very covert in design depending on make and model. Hi vis LEDs including deckblasters, I believe, can help to enforce the message that there ARE unmarked police patrols anytime of the day or night and enforces paranoia among law breakers everytime they see a VY/VZ roll by 8). Your average Joe Citizen wouldnt spot an unmarked car even with all the lights and antennas, let alone know such cars actually existed!! But, of course as stated earlier, the real crims can pick out an unmarked car a mile away :x

I've seen a few unmarked cars which are fitted with Deckblasters on the front and LEDs on the rear parcel shelf. Deckblasters aren't bad, but its chunky design and strobe-washout effect of the red & blue dont make it a viable option when compared to new LED technology.

Something that i do miss is the alternating-flashing headlights which seem now are only used on ambos :(
