VKI Radio Operator ( Dispatch ) Questions
Moderator: Bonez
I may also recommend joining your local Volunteer Sea Rescue Group as a Radio Operator.
I was in Sea Rescue for a couple of years and as part of that I spend time as a radio operator, operating on the emergency UHF/VHF and 27Meg channels taking details of vessels going out to sea and vessels requiring assistance. May look good on your CV when you come to apply for a vacancy down the track.
It is also good from an emergency management point of view as you often take emergency calls via telephone then coordinate rescue missions.
Another option could be the State Emergency Service Communications Branch in Belmont; they are the SES specialist communications section and often work as radio operators during major operations around the state. They are of course volunteers so it would be in your own time.
Other than that you could always look at working in a call centre environment to get used to taking calls from the public about things they want to complain about. You would be better of with a public utility than a sales environment.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

No. Not going to happen.Leigh wrote:I think its about time warsug should start allowing response posts to be shown, remember, if somebody has a go at one of our members about something that is totally uncalled for, we should have every right to show why we feel the way we do, as opposed to being shown as a bunch of pushovers as it appears now.
If you want to take this up privately, feel free to PM me.
