Maybe someone needs to create a standard response that we can just copy and paste.

... or people could just be a little more understanding with their responses.. no need to go off the trolley. Some people who aren't members here will sign up and we need to be a little forgiving...for a while anyway

Post subject: No you CANNOT pick up WAPOL transmissions in Perth!

The channels in the metro area are now ENCRYPTED on a digital network.

Im new here, just found this place
2 things to say on this digital subject.

1.so how do these new radios work, or what are the new radios doing, are they like ip phones, running complex protocols like tcp/ip on higher frequencies, or are they still an vhf or uhf radio passing a scrambled (encrypted) signal.

2. you want to listen to digital transmission.... just acquire a current issue radio.

Btw when did they stop transmitting on the old system.

2nd of June.

And please please please don't say 'just acquire a current issue radio', any radio not paired with its base/the network becomes inactive and will not work. Gone are the days of stolen radios functioning.

And welcome aboard.

even if you did aquire one as you so suggest (stupidly) then they can block out it off the network.

then you could aquire another one. then they could block that
then you could aquire another one etc etc etc

or maybe instead of just keep blocking the radios they would find out who is stealing all these radios and charge them......

considering the experience of the analogue network and the amount of idiots that got on and said stupid things, I bet the cops would love some payback :D.

If you really want to listen to the cops... and I will tell you the safest, and best way to listen to them.. And fully legally (you can hear everything is ........)

Join the WAPOL :D
