Live Streams!

Post by SteveNSWP »

Does anyone know of any live streams of WAPOL communications. I'm a NSW copper and am interested in listening to how WAPOL Comms works and sounds. Thanks heaps for your replies,

Steve.

Sorry Luke................

With the topic of this thread in mind there may only be 2 months or so left of scaanning WAPOL in the metro area. The digital network is up and running in all six districts so the countdown has begun.

Can the cops still use digital radio if TADIS is down? Seems to be down quite often.

The data and voice side of things are separate. TADIS runs over the radio network - it isnt *the* radio network.

TADIS is hardly ever [rarely?] down.
Sometimes the search function might not work - this is uncommon in itself.
And sometimes certain aspects of TADIS don't work [ability to close a job or change unit status].

TADIS is always cranking away, though. I don't know how you could say that it is down [or seems to be] 'quite often' at all.

Granted, it has its random hiccups. But the jobs are always on the screen to'ing and fro'ing.

HEKTIK may be confused due to the amount of times he hears the cops saying that they don't have TADIS, so the job has to be read out the old way.

There are still some vehicles which aren't fitted with TADIS and I hear it every now and again on the Joondalup channel.

One of the WT (training academy) vehicles was on patrol the other day, not sure if they were taking some new coppers out for the first time or not, but they were attending lots of jobs and did not have TADIS so all of them had to be read out over the air.

The WT vehicle didn't even have a digital radio in it. You could tell it was analogue because it was so crystal clear and the voice was very loud :)

Now before we all get precious again, Hektik is fairly spot on.

TADIS has had a number of issues over the last couple of weeks and just last week was down for 12hrs or so. The common view is that it is a heat related issue.

What the percentage of down time is I don't know but it is a reasonable comment to make and being a public forum one he entitled to make without being shot down in flames as if he launched personal insults against the queen. Geez guys lighten up and have some fun.

The WT cars do have digital radio, a newer Motorola than in operational cars with an LCD display but no TADIS and will probably never get it with the cost of the unit.

 they're not water cooled! Or don't have aircon vents pointing into the heart of it to keep it cool!

You're right CHEV, HEKTIK gave his piece about how it seems to him.
Now I've given mine.

This is how a forum works, it's all good. No flames here. Move along. :)
