Came across this article today, and thought it was quite interesting to note the number of patrol hours, RBT's etc all being reduced on 2006/7 in comparison to years prior (even by up to 25%!). Considering the alarming rise in our death toll, shouldn't this be the opposite??

NO p plate drivers after 10pm
Not quite, no.
The Road Traffic Act Amendment Bill (No. 2) (2007) was passed on the 6th December 2007 which introduces additional restrictions and requirements for new drivers.
The law hasn't come into effect yet, but will do so sometime in the first half of 2008.
You can read more about it on the Office of Road Safety's website here.
(By the way, the night time driving restriction is for people in the first 6 months of having their P plates, and is for driving between the hours of midnight and 5 AM)

There aren't enough resources to get older hoons...nor to police the speeders and mobile phone users etc..so it won't do any good...and will have the p platers risk it all to get home anyway given the public transport systems seems to lock up at 7pm most places...

Is there specific areas you mean by "most places"? We used to use public transport all the time. Still do.
bus drivers dont even stop for people at night , there too scared there gonna get into a fight / robbed and bashed , you put your hand out to signal for them to pull over and they look at you and keep driving ....thanks
