Police Escort Vehicle wide load

Post by Kombi »

(I suppose this goes in here ?) 2pm I just passed a Wide Load Escort Vehicle, then a 4 wheel drive Wide load Escort Vehicle with red and Blue police lights and strobe lights, it said on side, ? something Escort, I couldnt take eyes off road long enough, another wide load escort, the semi load, then 3 more wide load escort vehicles behind, they were traveling north on Malaga Drve turning left into Beach, the semi trailer load was a stretch trailer with a huge concrete bridge section, and i mean HUGE, taking up the best of 2 lanes , they would be in bother if turning right into Alexander Drv ,as its all road works and ripped up ??? Traffic was banked up for yonks behind it all.

As far as I am aware.. The reason it does not say police is that these are now operated by civilians employed to the police.

Yeah, they are often used on the country roads to escort (hence name) oversize loads or important traffic. Your supposed to clear the whole way off the road and drive with extreme caution when you see one. They are on uhf CB channel 40 but also have their own commercial channel. Never seen an all black one though

Any load over 5.5m wide requires a police escort. This job is now performed by civilians employed bby the police service and the oic of the unit is a serving member. They operate white nissan patrols 4x4s and they wear a brown uniform with the insignia saying traffic warden. From time to time they do use WAPOL members from different districts and they normally use one of there district cars.
I have never heard of a black vehicle and for the life of me I wouldn't know what Advance Life would be doing as i thought that they were a medical organisation.

Im not saying im right, i only had seconds to glance back and thought the police looking vehicle was black, was more intent on trying to read the side of it, ive done wide load escort before when you could use some old bomb and sleep in the back going to Karratha, 25-30 yrs ago,lol...

ive had a pilots licence for 2 years, trust me - i know how slow the govts wheels turn.

a few of my mates recently sat their Private licence flight tests, and the paperwork takes 3 - 4 weeks to get back to them, and they can't carry passengers till the paperwork gets back - and the whole idea of consolidation is taking people around (oh, and getting your hours up)
